(No. 87, an ±02 minute read)
My “Out of Office” email is up, and I’m headed to a place I’ve never been with a story that is something. I’m writing now from Los Angeles, where many drivers are still, quite frankly, assholes — as you’d expect. There have been two brush fires in the county in the three days I’ve been here (Knocked down fast, thankfully.), and still much of it looks like much else of it while driving from Mid-City to West Hollywood to Chinatown.
So there’s not much to see here. But there is much going on out there, including Tampa hitting 100º last week for the first time since the keeping of temperature records there. And I think that these stories are worth a read:
– About the EPA and the attempt to scuttle the Endangerment Finding and blow our national ability to regulate methane and other greenhouse gases.
– About how easy it is in the Trump era to get out of pollution control obligations if you burn coal. Send an email!
– If you are following the Epstein insanity, the money trail is real, and worse generally than what is being widely reported of his associations with Trump. Plus, this is good and keeps the why of Epstein’s importance close. The first from Finance Committee Ranking Democrat Senator Ron Wyden and the second from a journalist who’s been on the story for years.
– And finally, a journalist who’s been on the immigration beat for decades and his take on the so-called “criminal alien.” I can tell you, even only in three days’ time in L.A., the stories I am hearing, both primary experience and first-hand, are heartbreaking and paint our federal government, at best, in an immoral light.
See you in a couple of weeks, perhaps it will be better out there….
